When I stoped drinking a couple of years ago, I drew upon all the tools I had in my storehouse:
- Essential oils
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- All the personal development books I had ever read
- All the business books I had ever read
- Previous business coaching I had paid for and received
- Experience in several business masterminds
- Online courses I had taken
- Exercise, Prayer and Meditation
- Good, simple food
- Walks in nature
One of the surprising aspects of finally putting down my daily wine habit was the effect on my business. My health and my relationships become more satisfying and clear, while my business started to finally make sense. No longer did I feel like I was going through the motions; My business became an extension of all that I loved and felt was good and worthwhile. Though my digital content marketing agency was flourishing, something was missing.
What flowed into place was a commitment to help others find the same purpose in their business.
I’ve always been a work-from-home mom, founding and running a successful business from my home office while juggling all the mom duties to three children. I started my agency My Team Connects in 2006, focusing on copywriting and email marketing. By late 2017, I was ready for a change. I took a content marketing director position and recognized I was a dyed-in-the-wool entrepreneur, so I left the nonprofit world after six months and returned to entrepreneurship full time. Oils, health and wellness, marketing, freedom and flexibility, and the limitless income potential of owning a business were always what spoke to my heart.
When I hired a business coach to help me walk through some ideas I had about coaching other sober entrepreneurs, her advice hit me with a resounding “a-ha!” This well-meaning woman said something which completely riveted my attention.
“Jen, you don’t want your clients to be broken people, do you?”
Turns out that one question was worth the $500/hour I had paid her!
After hearing that question roll around my head for several months, I realized that the sober people I knew were the healthiest people I’d ever met!
They weren’t “broken” at all, and I bristled just hearing those words in my memory. (She had no idea what she was talking about. Even though she is a smart business coach, she just didn’t get it!) The reality is this…
People who choose sobriety fall into the category of anyone who’s had a turning point in their life.
Among these “broken people” who make the healthy decision to stop drinking alcohol are others… they include those who walk away from abusive relationships, those who make the decision to lose 100 pounds, those who finally decide to go back to college in their 50s, and those who courageously leave their safe job to start the business they’ve always dreamed of.
Broken people? Heck yeah. If those are broken people, I’ll take the broken ones any day!
Sober Business Coaching is for people who are serious about building their business.
So what do I offer someone who is starting an online business after quitting drinking? For one thing, I have an understanding of what you’ve been through and the vernacular to discuss business in a non-threatening and non-patronizing way. I’ve been there. I don’t care how you came through to the other side, because I am not a sobriety coach, nor am I a 12-step sponsor. But I get it. 😉
I am, however, someone who can help you build a kick-butt business.
If you love your sobriety and you’re ready to take your dreams into your own hands, let’s talk about your next steps for producing or increasing your income building a business you love.
My Background
As founder and chief strategist of the agency My Team Connects, I’ve spent years writing copy for high paying clients and other web business owners. We’ve helped strategize successful launches and create information products and courses for their customers. My team and I have put together social media campaigns and facebook ads, and helped with Google adwords and other paid media. I’ve strategized Kickstarter campaigns for new inventors, and written e-books for coaches, doctorates and investors.
If it involved attracting attention on the web, I’ve done it.
My purpose has always been helping serious entrepreneurs start businesses or take their business to the next tier of success.
You’ve done some hard work in the past; now it’s time to soar! Visit me at happysoberbusiness.com and learn more about my SOBER® coaching programs and business startup consultations.
